This is an activity that I did in my placement now with my 8th graders at Morton. You would be surprised at how many of them forget how to plot points on a graph. Especially after we introduce graphing a linear equation and slope, they seem to get slope and a simple point mixed up for some reason. My CT and I were amazed at how confused they were when just plotting a simple point on a coordinate plane. So we had heard about this activity from another math teacher that teaches at Southern Middle, she said it worked really well. And it did! It was amazing how much the kids enjoyed it, and it made them realize the difference in plotting a point and finding the slope.
